Smt Droupadi Murmu, the Hon’ble President of India, presented the National Energy Conservation Awards, National Energy Efficiency Innovation Awards, and National Painting Competition prizes in New Delhi on 14 December on the occasion of National Energy Conservation Day.
Nine National Energy Conservation Awards for the year 2022 were presented to Indian Railways on this occasion.
The Bureau of Energy Efficiency under the aegis of the Ministry of Power, Government of India, presented these awards at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi.
The awards for the best energy management practices during the year 2022 will be announced soon.
South Central Railways won first and second prizes for Energy Conservation Measures in the Railway Stations category. Kacheguda Station was awarded First Prize. Guntakal Railway station was awarded the second prize.
The following railway stations were awarded Certificates of Merit: Kanpur Central Railway Station (NCR), Rajahmundry Railway Station (SCR), and Tenali Railway station (SCR).
North Western Railway’s Ajmer Workshop won first prize in the Buildings category.
The following Railway Hospitals were awarded Certificates of Merit: Guntakal (SCR), Electric Traction Training Centre, Vijayawada (SCR), and Divisional Railway Hospital, Pratapnagar (WR).

Transport Category / Railway Stations Sector:
- Kacheguda Railway Station won the First Prize
- Kanpur Central Railway Station won the certificate of Merit
- Guntakal Railway station wins the Second Prize
- Tenali Railway Station won the certificate of Merit
Buildings Category / Government Buildings Sector:
- Ajmer Workshop of North Western Railway won the First Prize.
- Divisional Railway Hospital, Pratapnagar (WR) won the certificate of Merit.
- Electric Traction Training Centre (ETTC), Vijayawada (SCR) won the certificate of Merit.
- Railway Hospital / Guntakal (SCR) won the certificate of Merit
Various energy conservation measures like energy-efficient LED lighting have been consistently implemented by railways.
