Afghanistan: The National Center for Seismology has issued a statement confirming an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.4 on the Richter scale, striking Afghanistan. The seismic event occurred on April 14, 2024, at precisely 11:28:35 IST. Located at a latitude of 36.32 and longitude of 70.26, the quake’s epicenter was situated within the Afghan territory.
According to the data provided by the National Center for Seismology, the earthquake’s depth was recorded at 90 kilometers beneath the earth’s surface. This depth is significant as it influences the extent of potential damage and the intensity of shaking experienced on the surface.
Afghanistan, nestled within the seismic activity-prone region of the Hindu Kush mountain range, frequently experiences tremors and earthquakes.
