General Elections 2024: As the General Elections 2024 progress, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has made significant strides in combating inducements and electoral malpractices. Record seizures totaling over Rs. 4650 crores have been recorded, marking a substantial increase from the Rs. 3475 crores seized during the entire Lok Sabha election in 2019.

Of the seized amounts, 45% comprise drugs and narcotics, highlighting the special focus of the Commission on this issue. The enhanced seizures are attributed to comprehensive planning, collaborative efforts, proactive citizen participation, and the optimal use of technology.

The ECI’s commitment to conducting inducement-free elections is evident in its rigorous enforcement actions and focus on maintaining a level playing field for all political parties and candidates. Central Election Commission, led by CEC Shri Rajiv Kumar, has reviewed all Central Observers deployed in Phase-1 of the elections, emphasizing tightening, monitoring, and checking to ensure a fair electoral process.

The Commission has also taken strict action against government servants found assisting politicians in campaigning, reinforcing its commitment to upholding the Code of Conduct.

CEC Shri Rajiv Kumar stressed the importance of strict compliance with surveillance instructions during the press briefing, emphasizing the need for close monitoring by various agencies across all modes of transport and international check posts.

The ECI’s unwavering commitment to monitor and curb electoral malpractices reflects its determination to ensure transparent and fair elections, thereby upholding the democratic values of the nation.
