In a dazzling display of innovation and strength, the Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) is set to unveil a spectacular array of critical systems and technologies during the 75th Republic Day Parade at Kartavya Path on January 26, 2024.

Under the theme “Women Power in Protecting the Nation,” the DRDO tableau will shine a spotlight on the invaluable contributions of women scientists in core areas of Defence Research, showcasing their dedication as enablers of ‘Aatmanirbharta’ – self-reliance.

With the remarkable Smt Sunita Devi Jena leading as the Contingent Commander, the tableau will vividly depict the prowess of women in safeguarding the nation across all five dimensions: Land, Air, Sea, Cyber, and Space.

As the parade unfolds, the tableau will reveal a breathtaking lineup of cutting-edge systems. From the Man Portable Anti-tank Guided Missile (MPATGM) to the Anti-Satellite (ASAT) Missile, and the formidable Agni-5, each display narrates a tale of India’s unwavering commitment to technological excellence.

A special focus on women’s involvement in Defence R&D permeates the tableau, symbolizing the strides taken in breaking gender barriers. The Anti-Tank Guided Missile ‘HELINA,’ Quick Reaction Surface-to-Air Missile (QRSAM), and the agile Light Combat Aircraft ‘Tejas’ showcase the diversity of capabilities developed under the visionary leadership of DRDO.

The highlight, the ASAT Missile, used in the historic Mission Shakti, underscores India’s ascendancy as the fourth nation possessing this specialized and modern capability. Meanwhile, the Agni-5 ballistic missile stands tall, ready to strike targets with unparalleled accuracy.

The indigenously developed MPATGM, NASM-SR, and VSHORADS represent a triumph of innovation over adversity, embodying the spirit of resilience and self-sufficiency. The QRSAM, ASTRA, and LCA Tejas demonstrate India’s commitment to defending its sovereignty with state-of-the-art technology.

Uttam Active Electronically Scanned Array Radar (AESAR), the Advanced Electronic Warfare System ‘Shakti,’ and other cyber security systems epitomize the nation’s vigilance in safeguarding against modern threats. The DRDO’s contribution extends beyond the physical realm, encompassing the vital domains of cyberspace and electronic warfare.

The emotional crescendo reaches its peak as the parade unfolds, showcasing other remarkable systems like Pinaka, Nag Missile System, and the mobile bridging system ‘Sarvatra.’ The Medium Range Surface to Air Missile (MRSAM) and Weapon Locating Radar ‘Swathi’ add to the symphony of technological prowess on display.

The flypast by the Indian Air Force, featuring the indomitable LCA Tejas and AEW&C developed by DRDO, echoes the collaborative spirit that defines the nation’s defense ecosystem. As a beacon of ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat,’ DRDO stands tall, partnering with academia, industry, MSMEs, start-ups, and the Armed Forces to forge a future defined by self-reliance and technological excellence.
