With the Lok Sabha elections on the horizon, all eyes are on the Modi government as Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman takes center stage to present the interim budget. This pivotal moment marks Sitharaman’s sixth budget presentation since assuming office in 2019.

In her budget speech, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman highlighted the government’s commitment to uplifting the nation, stating that 25 crore people have been liberated from poverty in the last 10 years. Expressing confidence in the electorate, Sitharaman expressed hope for a resounding mandate for the BJP in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Sitharaman’s budget address also touched on sporting achievements, with a focus on the Asian Games and Para Games medal tally in 2023. Notably, she acknowledged chess prodigy Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa and proudly announced the nation’s accomplishment of having over 80 chess champions.

The interim budget becomes a platform for the government to showcase its achievements, outline future plans, and connect with the aspirations of the citizens, especially in the context of the approaching elections. Sitharaman’s emphasis on poverty alleviation, political optimism, and recognition of sporting excellence adds layers to the government’s narrative, presenting a comprehensive vision for India’s future. As the nation awaits the outcomes of the Lok Sabha elections, the interim budget remains a crucial document in shaping the political and economic discourse.
