In a significant development aimed at enhancing infrastructure and road safety in Assam, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, announced the approval of Rs 421.15 Crore for the construction of a crucial 4-lane Gauripur Bypass. This infrastructure project, set to be implemented along NH-17 (New)/NH-31(Old) in Dhubri district, holds immense promise for the region’s transportation network.
Spanning a length of 9.61 kilometers, the Gauripur Bypass project will stretch from Dumardoha Pt-II to the Baladmara road, effectively mitigating traffic congestion in Gauripur town. Furthermore, it aims to address the safety concerns posed by sharp bends on the existing highway, thus significantly reducing the risk of accidents in the area.
During his announcement, Minister Gadkari underscored the critical importance of this infrastructure initiative, emphasizing its potential to alleviate congestion and enhance safety standards along the route. The allocation of funds for the construction underscores the government’s commitment to bolstering transportation networks and ensuring safer travel experiences for citizens.
Moreover, the implementation of the bypass will incorporate comprehensive road safety measures, further fortifying its impact on accident reduction in the region. By providing a smoother and safer alternative route, the project is poised to enhance connectivity and facilitate smoother movement of goods and people.
