On the 11th of February Nitin Gadkari pays tributes to the pioneer of Integral Humanism and Antyodaya, our source of inspiration, respected Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay ji on his death anniversary.
Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay was an Indian political leader, philosopher, and writer who was one of the founding members of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, the forerunner to the present-day Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Born on September 25, 1916, in the small village of Nagla Chandrabhan in the Mathura district of Uttar Pradesh, he rose to become a prominent figure in the Indian political landscape and is remembered for his contributions to the country’s independence movement and his unique philosophy of Integral Humanism.
Upadhyay was a firm believer in the ancient Indian values of humanity and spirituality, and his philosophy of Integral Humanism reflects these beliefs. He emphasized that human beings are not just physical beings but also spiritual beings and that their well-being and development must be understood in this context. He believed that the ultimate goal of human life was to attain self-realization and that this could be achieved through a harmonious blend of material and spiritual pursuits.
Upadhyay’s philosophy of Integral Humanism was based on four pillars: 1) Antyodaya (uplifting the last person), 2) Socialism (equality of opportunity), 3) Cultural Nationalism (respecting the cultural diversity of the country), and 4) Swadeshi (economic self-reliance). He believed that India’s unique cultural and spiritual heritage held the key to its development and that the country should strive towards economic self-reliance rather than dependence on foreign countries.
The legacy of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay continues to influence Indian politics, especially the BJP, which considers him to be one of its guiding lights. His philosophy of Integral Humanism has also been adopted by the party as its official ideology and continues to inspire its leaders and workers. He died on 11 February 1968.

His philosophy of Integral Humanism, with its emphasis on human well-being, cultural diversity, and economic self-reliance, continues to inspire generations of Indians. He will always be remembered as one of the most important figures in modern Indian history.
