The Central Water Commission (CWC) has issued a stern flood alert for the River Ganga in the Azmabad area of Bhagalpur district, Bihar. According to the latest official flood forecast, the river is currently experiencing a severe situation, with water levels well above its danger mark.
As of the most recent update, the River Ganga at Azmabad was flowing at a level of 30.88 meters, maintaining a steady trend. This water level is notably 0.34 meters above its danger level, which is set at 30.54 meters. This critical situation has raised alarm among local authorities and residents alike.
“Floods can pose significant threats to both life and property, and it is crucial for people in the affected areas to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions. Authorities are actively monitoring the situation and are prepared to respond promptly to any emergencies that may arise”.
“Residents living in the vicinity of the River Ganga in Bhagalpur district are advised to stay tuned to official updates and follow the guidance provided by local authorities. Evacuation plans and relief measures may be initiated if the situation deteriorates further”.
The Central Water Commission plays a vital role in monitoring river levels and issuing flood forecasts to help mitigate the impact of such natural disasters. It is essential for individuals and communities to heed these warnings and cooperate with authorities to ensure their safety during these challenging times.
