Ghaziabad: RRTS Corridor to Modinagar Quadruples Daily Ridership

Estimated reading time: 1 minute

The introduction of the Rapid Rail Transit System (RRTS) corridor connecting Ghaziabad to Modinagar has sparked a remarkable surge in daily ridership, marking a significant milestone in the region’s transportation infrastructure.

Previously, the priority corridor witnessed a daily ridership averaging between 2500 to 3000 passengers. However, with the extension of the RRTS corridor to Modinagar, this figure has skyrocketed to an impressive 12,000 commuters per day. The exponential increase underscores the growing demand for efficient and accessible public transportation solutions in Ghaziabad and surrounding areas.

The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has been closely monitoring the expansion of the RRTS network and its impact on commuter patterns. With the successful inauguration of the corridor to Modinagar, NCRTC remains optimistic about achieving its ambitious targets for daily footfall upon the completion of the entire 82 km Delhi-Meerut RRTS corridor.

NCRTC’s projections indicate an estimated daily footfall of 8 lakh passengers once the full length of the RRTS corridor becomes operational. This anticipated surge in ridership reflects the growing popularity and necessity of rapid transit systems in addressing the burgeoning transportation needs of urban and peri-urban populations.
