An Indian actor, comedian, dancer, and former politician, Govind Arun Ahuja has appeared in more than 165 Hindi-language films and established himself as one of the most popular actors in India. Govinda is known for his comic timing, and his ability to deliver dialogues with double meaning.
Govind is also known for his excellent dancing skills. Govind has received twelve Filmfare Award nominations and won two Filmfare Special Awards and a Filmfare Award for Best Comedian. In 1999, BBC News Online poll voted him the tenth-greatest star of the stage or screen in the last thousand years.
Bollywood actor Govinda is often referred to as the “King of Comedy” in India. He has starred in over 100 films and has won numerous awards for his comic timing and acting ability. Govinda is also a very successful politician, having served as a member of parliament for the Indian National Congress from 2004 to 2008.
Born in a Khatri family in Mumbai. He made his film debut in 1986 with Tan Badan, but it was his performance in the 1987 film Ilzaam that earned him critical acclaim. Govinda went on to star in several hit films throughout the late 1980s and 1990s, including Love 86, Aankhen, Coolie No. 1, Hero No. 1, and Hadh Kar Di Aapne.
