The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has reported that Goa experienced moderate to heavy rainfall from 23rd to 24th July 2023. During this period, several locations in the state witnessed substantial rainfall, with Ponda recording the highest rainfall of 114.0mm.
Rainfall Details Across Goa
The IMD data highlights the following rainfall figures for various locations in Goa during the mentioned period:
- Ponda: Ponda received the maximum amount of rainfall, measuring 114.0mm. The heavy downpour could lead to localized flooding in low-lying areas, and residents are advised to take necessary precautions to stay safe.
- Valpoi: Valpoi recorded a significant rainfall of 101.2mm. The incessant rain may impact travel and outdoor activities, and it is advisable to stay indoors during such conditions.
- Quepem: Quepem received substantial rainfall, with the IMD recording 100.6mm of rainfall. Proper drainage and flood management measures must be in place to prevent any waterlogging incidents.
- Canacona: Canacona experienced heavy rainfall of 87.2mm. Residents are urged to stay updated with weather advisories and avoid venturing into flooded areas.
- Margao: Margao received a considerable downpour, measuring 77.6mm. It is essential to be cautious while commuting and avoid waterlogged roads.
- Pernem: Pernem witnessed 72.4mm of rainfall during the mentioned period. Local authorities should be prepared to respond to any emergency situations arising from heavy rainfall.
- Panaji: The capital city, Panaji, received 69.2mm of rainfall. It is crucial for the civic authorities to monitor drainage systems to prevent water accumulation in the city.
