Have you ever dreamed of going on safari and exploring the world’s most remote areas? Or, how about swimming with sea life in the deep blue ocean? Well, if so, a career as a zoologist might be for you!

Reasons to Become a Zoologist

There are many reasons to become a zoologist. Zoologists can work for zoos and aquariums, research labs, animal sanctuaries, travel the world exploring new animals, work as a zoo-keeper or a conservationist. The best part about being a zoologist is that most people don’t come face-to-face with so many animals on the daily basis.

Preparation for a Zoologist Career

A zoologist is a scientist who specializes in the study of animals. To become a zoologist, you need to have a good understanding of biology and ecology and be skilled in the use of computers. Zoologists also need to be able to work well with people, so communication skills are very important. Finally, a person needs to have a love for animals so that they can spend their days studying them! The amount of education you will need to become a zoologist varies with the type of work that you want to do.

Many people who start out as zoology majors go on to get a Ph. D. and become professors at colleges or universities. Others go into research for government agencies, such as the National Institutes of Health in the United States, or for private companies that develop products for people or animals. Some people who study zoology choose to be veterinarians so that they can help animals in the same way that doctors help people. No matter what career you choose, an education in zoology will provide the tools you need to become a successful professional!

Career Options for a Zoologist

Zoologists study the biology and behavior of animals. They might work in a zoo, wildlife reserve, or laboratory. Some zoologists are also teachers that help children understand the natural world. Zoology is a very interesting field because you get to learn about the animal kingdom, which is fascinating!
