He commended India’s status as a surplus nation in terms of food grains, supplying sustenance to 80 crore people. Minister Tomar acknowledged the encouragement provided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in promoting new agricultural technologies through various mission programs that benefit farmers. He highlighted the global preference for Indian agricultural products and the significance of millets in the International Year of Millets. Minister Tomar attributed these successes to the sincere efforts of farmers and scientists and emphasized the government’s focus on organic and eco-friendly agriculture.
Union Minister Parshottam Rupala Emphasizes Carbon Credits and Inaugurates Exhibition
Union Minister Parshottam Rupala praised ICAR for its revolutionary achievements, particularly in the dairy and fisheries sectors. He emphasized the potential for earning carbon credits from agriculture, which can serve as an additional source of income. Minister Rupala inaugurated an exhibition showcasing innovative technologies developed by 113 ICAR research institutes, offering a glimpse into cutting-edge advancements in the field.
Union Minister Kailash Choudhary expressed his appreciation for ICAR and its accomplishments. Looking ahead, he highlighted the approaching centenary year of ICAR and emphasized the need to strategize and set milestones for agricultural advancements to be achieved during this significant period.

Dr. Himanshu Pathak, Secretary (DARE) & Director General (ICAR) stressed the remarkable progress achieved in the agriculture sector. He emphasized that India has not only achieved self-sufficiency in food grain production but has also become a significant exporter of agricultural products. Dr. Pathak highlighted ICAR’s accomplishments, including the development of numerous crop varieties, efficient cropping system zones, innovative technologies, equipment, vaccines, and diagnostic tools. He emphasized the importance of collaborations between scientists and industries, as well as the promotion of agricultural innovations for commercialization.

This year, ICAR celebrated its Foundation Day as Technology Day, demonstrating its commitment to technological advancements and innovation. An exhibition was arranged to present ICAR’s technologies, aiming to benefit farmers, students, and the agricultural industry. The exhibition was open to the public from July 16th to 18th, 2023, with the aim of creating awareness about the innovative contributions made by ICAR.
