The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has raised a cautionary flag as it issues an orange alert for the northeastern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya. In an official announcement, the IMD highlights the potential for intense rainfall, urging residents to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions in the face of impending weather challenges.
Set for August 12th, the orange alert signifies the likelihood of heavy to very heavy rainfall, with expected accumulation ranging from 115.6 to 204.4 mm. The forecasted deluge raises concerns about flash floods, landslides, and other hazards that may accompany such substantial precipitation.
The IMD’s timely alert serves as a reminder for citizens to prioritize safety and preparedness. Residents are advised to stay indoors as much as possible, avoid unnecessary travel, and closely monitor weather updates through reliable sources.
