The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather alert, announcing an orange alert for the northeastern states of Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura. According to the alert, these regions are expected to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall, ranging from 115.6 to 204.4mm, on the 8th of August. Residents are advised to take necessary precautions to ensure safety and preparedness in anticipation of the forecasted adverse weather conditions.
The IMD’s announcement serves as a timely caution for residents of these northeastern states to stay vigilant and proactive. An orange alert signifies a notable possibility of heavy rainfall, which could lead to localized flooding, landslides, and other weather-related challenges.
“As the mentioned date approaches, individuals and communities are encouraged to stay updated with weather forecasts and take appropriate measures. This includes avoiding unnecessary travel, securing belongings, and being ready for any potential disruptions to daily routines”.
The northeastern states, known for their scenic beauty and diverse landscapes, are also prone to heavy rainfall during certain periods. The IMD’s orange alert acts as a crucial advisory, empowering residents to prioritize their well-being and the safety of their loved ones.
