The third T20 match between India and Australia witnessed a batting spectacle, leaving Indian bowlers grappling with a formidable target of 223 runs. While the Indian batsmen, led by Rituraj Gaikwad’s century, set a challenging score, the bowlers struggled to contain the Australian onslaught, resulting in a disappointing turn of events for the Indian team.
Prasidh Krishna’s Unfortunate Record:
The standout moment of concern for India was the performance of Prasidh Krishna, who failed to find his rhythm against the Australian batsmen. Krishna faced a challenging day on the field, giving away a staggering 68 runs in his four overs without claiming a single wicket. This performance etched his name in an undesirable record, making him the Indian bowler to concede the most runs in a T20 International match. The previous record was held by Yuzvendra Chahal, who had given away 64 runs in a T20 match against South Africa in 2018.

Prasidh Krishna’s T20I Journey:
Prasidh Krishna, making his T20 debut against Ireland earlier this year under Jasprit Bumrah’s captaincy, has faced highs and lows in his limited T20 International career. Despite proving himself in the ODI format with 29 wickets in 17 matches, he could not secure a spot in the playing eleven during the ODI World Cup despite the injury to Hardik Pandya.
Rituraj Gaikwad’s Heroic Century:
On the batting front, Rituraj Gaikwad emerged as the hero for India, scoring a magnificent century with 123 runs. His innings catapulted him to the position of the second-highest innings scorer for India in T20 Internationals. Supported by contributions from Suryakumar Yadav (39 runs) and Tilak Verma (31 runs), the Indian team managed to post a substantial total.
Glenn Maxwell’s Counterattack:
However, Australia’s response was nothing short of spectacular, thanks to Glenn Maxwell’s stormy century. Maxwell’s innings of 104 runs played a pivotal role in Australia’s successful chase, securing a 5-wicket victory. His aggressive batting display proved to be the difference-maker in the high-scoring encounter.
