India, Israel Boost Defence Ties in Key Meeting

India and Israel reaffirmed their strategic defence partnership, vowing to build a robust institutional framework and enhance collaboration against terrorism.

Defence Secretary Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh held a bilateral meeting with Major General (Res) Amir Baram, Director General of Israel’s Ministry of Defence, in New Delhi on July 23, 2025. Both leaders explored avenues to expand and formalize the India-Israel defence partnership with a strong focus on long-term strategic collaboration.

The discussions emphasized counter-terrorism cooperation, with the Israeli DG strongly condemning the recent terror attack in Pahalgam and extending full support to India’s fight against terrorism. In return, Defence Secretary Singh reiterated India’s zero tolerance policy towards terrorism and condemned the October 7, 2023 terrorist attacks in Israel, also urging for the release of all hostages.

They also reviewed progress made in ongoing defence collaborations since the last Joint Working Group meeting in July 2024. The visit by the Israeli DG underscores the mutual commitment to deepen ties and boost cooperation in defence technologies, joint projects, and strategic initiatives.
