India-Russia Boost Ties in Key Industrial Sectors

India and Russia reaffirmed their strategic industrial and economic partnership during the 11th Session of the Working Group on Modernization and Industrial Cooperation, focusing on collaborative growth in key sectors such as aerospace, mining, railways, and advanced manufacturing technologies.

The 11th Session of the India-Russia Working Group on Modernization and Industrial Cooperation was held today at Vanijya Bhawan, New Delhi. This important bilateral meeting was organized under the broader framework of the India-Russia Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technological, and Cultural Cooperation.

The session was jointly chaired by Shri Amardeep Singh Bhatia, Secretary, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, and H.E. Mr. Alexey Gruzdev, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, Russian Federation.

The meeting aimed to review progress since the 10th session and explore deeper collaboration in priority industrial sectors. It provided a vital platform for advancing cooperation in modernization efforts, supported by key sub-groups focused on mining, fertilizers, and railway transport.

Discussions highlighted several emerging and high-impact areas such as:

  • Development of aerospace technologies including a modern wind tunnel facility.
  • Production of small aircraft piston engines.
  • Joint ventures in carbon fibre technology, additive manufacturing, and 3D printing.
  • Cooperation in extraction of rare earth and critical minerals.
  • Innovations in underground coal gasification and creation of modern industrial infrastructure.

Both sides welcomed enhanced engagement in key sectors including aluminium, railway modernization, and fertilizers. Additionally, mutual interests were reinforced in capacity building, technology transfer in mining equipment, exploration techniques, and sustainable waste management practices.

The session concluded with the signing of the Protocol of the 11th Session by both co-chairs, reflecting the mutual resolve to strengthen the strategic industrial and technological partnership.

Over 80 delegates participated in the session, comprising senior officials, industry representatives, and domain experts from both countries, highlighting the collaborative spirit and commitment to industrial advancement.

This session marks another step forward in India and Russia’s shared vision of a technologically empowered and economically robust partnership.
