On 31st of January, Piyush Goyal said, “India has set a new milestone in coffee exports, as the country’s shipments more than doubled in the period from April to December 2022, compared to the same period in 2013”. This growth is a testament to India’s thriving coffee industry and its increasing competitiveness in the global market.

Coffee has been a staple crop in India for centuries, with the country being home to some of the world’s largest coffee-growing regions. In recent years, Indian coffee has seen a surge in demand from international markets, particularly in Europe and the Middle East, due to its unique flavor profile and high quality.

The rise in exports is a result of various factors, including the government’s efforts to promote the country’s coffee industry, increased investment in the sector, and the adoption of modern farming practices.

Additionally, the country’s favorable weather conditions and favorable geography have allowed it to grow high-quality beans, making Indian coffee a sought-after commodity.

The coffee industry in India also provides livelihoods to millions of farmers and workers, who are crucial to the success of the sector. With the rise in exports, more and more people are expected to benefit from the industry, leading to an overall improvement in their standard of living.
