On January 3rd, the Indian box office witnessed a fierce clash between two highly anticipated films – Prabhas starrer ‘Salaar’ and Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Dunki.’ Let’s delve into the numbers and see who emerged victorious in this cinematic showdown.
Salaar’s Dominance:
Prabhas’ ‘Salaar’ showcased its supremacy by selling an impressive 3,79,255 tickets across 7555 shows, achieving a remarkable 19.37% occupancy. In the national chains, PVR led with 33,476 tickets and ₹0.61 crore, closely followed by INOX with 26,702 tickets and ₹0.60 crore, and Cinepolis with 19,083 tickets earning ₹0.39 crore. The cumulative earnings for all theatres stood at an impressive ₹5.39 crore, indicating Salaar’s strong hold at the box office.
Dunki’s Challenge:
Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Dunki,’ while putting up a decent fight, sold 1,33,239 tickets from 5472 shows, securing a 10.62% occupancy. Among national chains, PVR emerged on top with 24,870 tickets and ₹0.73 crore, followed by INOX with 13,716 tickets and ₹0.37 crore, and Cinepolis with 11,401 tickets, accumulating ₹0.24 crore. The total earnings for all theatres amounted to ₹2.55 crore, reflecting a commendable performance for ‘Dunki’ in the face of stiff competition.
As the box office numbers unfold, it’s clear that ‘Salaar’ has emerged as the triumphant contender on January 3rd. Prabhas’ magnetic pull and the film’s gripping storyline have resonated well with the audience, securing its dominance over ‘Dunki.’ The battle at the box office continues, promising more twists and turns in the days to come.
