Often informally referred to as KJo in the Hindi Film Industry, Karan Johar (born Rahul Kumar Johar; 25 May 1972) is an Indian filmmaker and television personality, who primarily works in Hindi cinema. Under his own Dharma Productions, he has launched the careers of several successful actors. Karan Johar has been honored with Padma Shri, the country’s fourth highest civilian award by the Government of India in 2020. The recipient of several accolades, including a National Film Award and six Filmfare Awards.
Johar was born on 25 May 1972 in Mumbai, India to Yash Johar, a film producer and the founder of Dharma Productions, and Hiroo Johar. His father is Punjabi Hindu and his mother is Sindhi Hindu. Greenlawn’s High School is where he studied. After attending Greenlawns, he went to H.R. College The college is located in Mumbai and offers courses in commerce and economics.
