In a surprising turn of events, filmmaker Kiran Rao finds herself basking in the glory of her latest venture, “Laapataa Ladies,” as it reportedly outshines Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s “Animal” in viewership on Netflix. Within just a month of its release, Kiran Rao’s movie has amassed a staggering 13.8 million views on the popular OTT platform, overtaking the numbers achieved by “Animal.”
“Laapataa Ladies” managed to achieve what took “Animal” approximately four months to garner, with the latter only earning 13.6 million views so far. Kiran Rao took to her Instagram story to share this exhilarating news, expressing her shock and happiness through a series of emojis.
Directed by Kiran Rao herself, “Laapataa Ladies” is an official adaptation of Biplab Goswami’s novel. The film features an ensemble cast including Sparsh Shrivastava, Pratibha Rantta, Nitanshi Goel, Ravi Kishan, and Chhaya Kadam in pivotal roles. Meanwhile, “Animal,” led by Ranbir Kapoor alongside Rashmika Mandanna and Triptii Dimri, failed to surpass the soaring success of Kiran Rao’s creation.
This remarkable achievement underscores the power of compelling storytelling and resonant performances, solidifying Kiran Rao’s prowess as a filmmaker to reckon with in the industry.
