Kolkata ED Arrests Advisor in WBSSC Recruitment Scam

The Enforcement Directorate (ED), Kolkata Zonal Office, has made significant progress in uncovering the Assistant Teachers Recruitment scam within the West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC). In a recent development, Santi Prasad Sinha, the then Advisor of the WBCSSC, has been arrested in connection with the scam.

Sinha was apprehended by the ED and subsequently presented before the Hon’ble Special Court (PMLA), Kolkata. The court has granted ED custody of Sinha for five days until 08.04.2024. This custody will facilitate further investigation into Sinha’s alleged involvement in the recruitment scam.

This arrest follows the earlier apprehension of Prasanna Kumar Roy, the main middleman implicated in the collection of funds and candidate details related to the recruitment scam. Roy, who was arrested on 19.02.2024, is currently in judicial custody awaiting further legal proceedings.

The recruitment scam revolves around the illegal appointment or recommendation of undeserving candidates for the position of Assistant Teachers for Classes IX to XII. The scam reportedly involved officials of the WBCSSC conspiring with Prasanna Kumar Roy and other individuals to manipulate the recruitment process for personal gain.

The ED’s actions underscore its commitment to combating corruption and ensuring accountability within government institutions. By apprehending individuals involved in fraudulent activities, the ED aims to uphold the integrity of recruitment processes and protect the interests of deserving candidates.

As the investigation progresses, the ED remains dedicated to uncovering the full extent of the scam and bringing all perpetrators to justice.
