The Central Water Commission (CWC) has issued a critical flood forecast for the Kosi River at Birpur, located in Bihar’s SUPAUL district. The update reveals a continuing severe situation as the river’s water level remains elevated, posing potential risks to the region.
As per the CWC’s latest report, the Kosi River at Birpur is currently flowing at a level of 74.74 meters. This measurement indicates a steady trend, with the water level remaining 0.04 meters above its designated Danger Level of 74.7 meters.
The situation is a cause for concern, as any water level exceeding the danger mark can lead to flooding in nearby areas, potentially impacting communities, agriculture, and infrastructure. The CWC’s flood forecasts and warnings play a crucial role in enabling local authorities and residents to take necessary precautions and actions to mitigate the effects of flooding.
Residents and authorities in the SUPAUL district of Bihar are advised to stay vigilant and follow the guidance provided by local authorities and the Central Water Commission to ensure their safety and minimize the potential damage caused by the ongoing severe flood situation.
