The film Laal Singh Chaddha has finished its extended weekend at around 46 crore nett, though collections dropped on the big holiday for Independence Day.The film has done less business in five days than Thugs Of Hindostan did in one, which tells the story pretty well.The film was unable to collect over the holiday period.
The film is heading for a big fall after the holiday period as the rejection is crystal clear from the collections. The theory that there is a boycott of the industry is doing the rounds, but the rejection is due to content. The fate of the film was not affected by the boycott, even though some potential audience members were kept away. If the film had been good, it would have risen far above this sort of thing.
The film’s chances seem bleak from here, especially given its weak opening week. It seems unlikely that it will even earn 75 crore nett in the long run.
