Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Union Budget 2023 on February 1st, 2023, outlining the government’s plans and priorities for the upcoming financial year.
The budget, which is considered one of the most important events in India’s political calendar, was eagerly anticipated by the public and businesses alike.
The Union Budget 2023 focused on several key areas, including agriculture, infrastructure, healthcare, education, and job creation. In her budget speech, Minister Sitharaman highlighted the government’s commitment to increasing agricultural productivity and supporting farmers, improving infrastructure in rural and urban areas, and expanding access to quality healthcare and education for all citizens.
The budget also emphasized the importance of job creation and economic growth, with a focus on the small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) sector.
The government announced several measures aimed at boosting the SME sector, including tax exemptions, easier access to credit, and increased investment in training and development programs.
Minister Sitharaman also highlighted the government’s efforts to improve the country’s overall fiscal position, with a focus on reducing the fiscal deficit and promoting fiscal discipline. The budget proposed a number of measures aimed at improving tax compliance, including the implementation of a new tax code and the introduction of a new tax dispute resolution mechanism.
