Lok Sabha Elections 2024: The Congress party, led by Mallikarjun Kharge and including stalwarts Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, presented its manifesto, ‘Nyay Patra’, at the AICC headquarters in New Delhi, ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Focusing on the ‘five pillars of justice’ or ‘Paanch Nyay’, the manifesto outlines commitments to ‘Yuva Nyay’, ‘Naari Nyay’, ‘Kisaan Nyay’, ‘Shramik Nyay’, and ‘Hissedari Nyay’. These pillars address various aspects of social justice and aim to uplift marginalized sections of society.

Key promises from the Congress manifesto include filling 30 lakh government job vacancies, guaranteeing a national minimum wage, and adopting the Rajasthan model of cashless insurance for universal healthcare. The party also vows to ensure legal guarantees for Minimum Support Prices (MSP) and conduct a socio-economic and caste census.

“In addition, the manifesto pledges to recognize civil unions for LGBTQIA+ couples, enhance pensions for senior citizens and persons with disabilities, and reserve 50% of central government jobs for women by 2025. It also proposes reforms in election laws, the Press Council of India Act, and the GST regime”.

On the foreign policy front, Congress promises to repair relations with the Maldives and address border issues with China to restore the status quo ante. The manifesto underscores the party’s commitment to rapid economic growth and wealth generation, aiming to double the GDP in the next decade.

The ‘Nyay Patra’ manifesto reflects Congress’s vision for inclusive governance, socio-economic development, and progressive policies. As the nation prepares for the upcoming elections, the document outlines the party’s agenda to address pressing issues and build a better future for all citizens.
