Kunal Khemu’s Directorial Debut ‘Madgaon Express’: “Madgaon Express,” a 2024 Hindi-language comedy film directed by actor Kunal Khemu in his directorial debut, has crossed the ₹20 crore mark at the box office. Produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani under Excel Entertainment, the film boasts an ensemble cast featuring Divyenndu, Pratik Gandhi, Avinash Tiwary, Nora Fatehi, Upendra Limaye, and Chhaya Kadam.
Released theatrically on 22nd March 2024, “Madgaon Express” garnered positive reviews from audiences and critics alike. Despite not being a blockbuster in terms of revenue, its steady performance indicates a promising trend for mid-range or non-star cast films, especially in the post-pandemic scenario.
Positive Reviews Propel ‘Madgaon Express’ to ₹20 Crore Gross
In its second week, the film continued to draw audiences, grossing ₹1.03 crore on Friday, ₹1.30 crore on Saturday, ₹1.57 crore on Sunday, ₹71 lakhs on Monday, ₹65 lakhs on Tuesday, ₹62 lakhs on Wednesday, and ₹60 lakhs on Thursday. This brings the total box office collection to ₹20.33 crore in India.
While ₹20 crore may not seem extraordinary from a business perspective, it signifies a significant milestone for films with non-star casts. The success of “Madgaon Express” suggests a growing audience interest in diverse and content-driven cinema, encouraging filmmakers to explore theatrical releases even amidst challenging circumstances.
As the film continues its theatrical run, its performance serves as a testament to the resilience and potential of Hindi cinema beyond traditional star power.
