Mansukh Mandaviya Promotes Growth and Innovation in Indian Pharma & Medical Devices Sectors.

On 26th of May Union Minister Mandaviya Mansukh delivered the inaugural address at the India Pharma & India Medical Devices Annual Conference. During his speech, he shed light on the government’s efforts to enhance these sectors, emphasizing the importance of serving both the Indian and global markets.

“One of the major highlights of the conference was the release of a comprehensive strategy document on the National Medical Device Policy. This document serves as a roadmap for the development and regulation of medical devices in India, ensuring quality, affordability, and accessibility. The strategy aims to establish a robust framework that fosters innovation, encourages domestic production, and ensures patient safety”.

Minister Mansukh launched reports on the Pharma and Medical Devices sectors, providing insights into their current status and future prospects. These reports offer valuable information to stakeholders and help shape policies that drive growth and competitiveness.

“Recognizing the significance of exports, the Minister inaugurated the Medical Devices Export Promotion Council. This council will play a pivotal role in facilitating the export of Indian medical devices to international markets. By promoting the quality and competitiveness of Indian products, the council aims to position India as a leading global player in the medical devices industry”.

“Another notable initiative announced at the conference was the launch of the AMD-CF scheme. This scheme focuses on creating advanced infrastructure and common facilities for the development and manufacturing of medical devices. By providing state-of-the-art facilities, the scheme aims to encourage research, innovation, and collaboration among industry stakeholders, fostering the growth of the sector”.

Minister Mansukh reiterated the government’s commitment to strengthening the Indian Pharma and Medical Devices sectors. He highlighted various initiatives implemented by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s administration, including regulatory streamlining to ease the approval processes, the creation of enabling infrastructure to support manufacturing and research, and the encouragement of research and development activities. These steps aim to enhance the competitiveness and quality of Indian pharmaceuticals and medical devices, making them globally competitive.

The implementation of Production Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes was also emphasized as a significant driver for growth in these sectors. These schemes offer financial incentives to manufacturers, encouraging domestic production, reducing import dependence, and fostering technological advancements.
