The Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan) is taking a remarkable step towards the economic empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (PwD) through the ‘Divya Kala Mela.’ This unique initiative aims to provide a larger platform for marketing and showcasing the products and skills of Divyangjan (PwD) entrepreneurs and artisans.
A Nationwide Showcase
The ‘Divya Kala Mela’ in Varanasi, scheduled from September 15th to 24th, 2023, marks the seventh edition in a series of such events that began in 2022. Previous events were held in Delhi, Mumbai, Bhopal, Guwahati, Indore, and Jaipur, creating opportunities for Divyangjan to exhibit their talents and products to a wider audience.
Diverse Range of Products
Visitors to the event can look forward to a diverse array of products, including home décor, clothing, stationery, eco-friendly items, packaged food, organic products, toys, gifts, and personal accessories like jewelry and clutch bags. The ‘Divya Kala Mela’ offers a chance to embrace the ‘vocal for local’ mantra by supporting products crafted by determined Divyang craftsmen.
Supporting Cultural Exchange
In addition to the impressive lineup of products, the ten-day event will also feature a rich cultural tapestry with performances by Divyang artists and renowned professionals. Visitors can savor regional cuisines from across the country, adding a delightful culinary dimension to the experience.
Inauguration and Dignitaries
The ‘Divya Kala Mela’ will be inaugurated on September 15th at 5.00 P.M. by A. Narayanaswamy, Union Minister of State for Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India. The event is expected to be graced by various other dignitaries, adding to its significance.
A Nationwide Initiative
The Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan) has ambitious plans to promote the ‘Divya Kala Mela’ concept across the country. In the coming year, the event is scheduled to be organized in 12 different cities, providing even more Divyang entrepreneurs and artisans with a platform to showcase their talents and products.
The ‘Divya Kala Mela’ in Varanasi is not just an exhibition; it’s a celebration of creativity, resilience, and the spirit of entrepreneurship among Divyang individuals. It embodies the spirit of inclusion and empowerment, offering a unique opportunity for all to appreciate and support the remarkable skills and craftsmanship of Divyangjan from every corner of India.
