Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, made a significant announcement regarding the construction of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, during a recent public event. According to the Minister, the expressway project will require an estimated 12 lakh tons of steel, equivalent to the material required for 50 Howrah Bridges.
The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, when completed, will be one of the most important transportation corridors in India, connecting the national capital to the financial capital of the country. The project is expected to significantly reduce travel time between the two cities and provide a smooth and efficient travel experience to commuters.
The Minister also emphasized the employment generation potential of the project, stating that it is expected to generate 10 crore man-days of employment, providing a significant boost to the local economy. This is a critical aspect of the project, given the importance of job creation in the current economic scenario.
The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is a key project under the National Highways Development Project (NHDP) and is being implemented by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). The expressway will cover a distance of 1,320 km and will traverse through six states, including Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Maharashtra.
The Minister’s announcement is a clear indication of the government’s commitment to fast-track infrastructure development in the country, particularly in the transport sector. The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway project is expected to be completed in the next five years and will provide a major boost to the economic growth of the region.
