The Ministry of Mines celebrated the 11th International Day of Yoga with enthusiasm and large-scale participation, aligning with the global theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health.” The theme highlighted the deep link between personal well-being and planetary health, presenting yoga as more than exercise — a sustainable and holistic way of life.
The central event was hosted at the Civil Services Officers’ Institute (CSOI), Vinay Marg, New Delhi. Over 300 participants, including Ministry officials, staff members, and their families, gathered at dawn for an energizing yoga session. The session was led by the Secretary of the Ministry of Mines, Shri V. L. Kantha Rao, whose active participation inspired attendees to embrace yoga as a part of their daily lives. To commemorate the occasion and symbolize harmony with nature, Shri Rao also planted a sapling, reinforcing the Ministry’s commitment to environmental stewardship.
Under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Ministry of Mines has taken significant steps to weave yoga into the cultural and occupational fabric of its personnel. Recognizing yoga as an anchor for both mental and physical well-being, the Ministry encouraged its field organizations to organize yoga sessions at more than 81 diverse locations across the country.
These venues ranged from mine sites and geo-heritage parks to regional offices, corporate setups, and public spaces, engaging a wide cross-section of society — from government employees and technical experts to local citizens, students, and families. The inclusivity of these celebrations amplified the true spirit of International Yoga Day: unity, wellness, and environmental consciousness.
Beyond physical health, the Ministry emphasized yoga’s role in cultivating mental discipline, emotional balance, and community cohesion. The initiative was a reflection of the Ministry’s broader mission — not just the extraction of resources, but the nurturing of people and the preservation of nature.
As the world continues to grapple with environmental and lifestyle-related challenges, the Ministry’s Yoga Day observance stands as a beacon of integrative, conscious living. It affirms the belief that the journey to planetary health begins with inner balance, mindful choices, and collective effort — principles at the heart of yoga.
