Minor Earthquake Shakes Rohtak, Haryana: NCS Reports

On the night of October 1, 2023, Rohtak, a city in the northern Indian state of Haryana, experienced a minor earthquake with a magnitude of 2.6 on the Richter scale. The National Center for Seismology, responsible for monitoring seismic activities in the region, reported the event, providing specific details about the earthquake’s location, depth, and timing.

According to the National Center for Seismology’s report, the earthquake occurred at precisely 23:26:55 IST (Indian Standard Time). Its epicenter was located at latitude 28.86 and longitude 76.67, pinpointing its origin to a point 7 kilometers east-southeast of Rohtak, Haryana, India. The earthquake had a relatively shallow depth of 5 kilometers beneath the Earth’s surface.

“While this earthquake was relatively minor in magnitude, it serves as a reminder of the seismic activity that can occasionally affect various parts of India.
