Minorities Rights Day is a day to celebrate the progress that has been made in ensuring equality for minority groups. It is also a day to reflect on the work that still needs to be done in order to fully protect the rights of all minority groups. This day is an important reminder that everyone deserves to be treated fairly and with respect, regardless of their race, ethnicity, religion, or gender identity.

The day is also an opportunity to reflect on the work that still needs to be done in order to fully protect the rights of all minority groups.
The United Nations declared December 18 as Minorities Rights Day back in 1992. The statement on the individual’s Rights belonging to religious or Linguistic National or Ethnic Minorities was adopted by the UN. The National Commission for Minorities (NCM) is responsible for carrying out events on this day in India. In 1992, the Union Government established the NCM under the National Commission for Minorities Act.

The recognition and protection of minority rights under international law are acknowledged by India. Today, the central government ensures that non-discrimination and equality rights are guaranteed.
