Miss Alabama Sara Milliken, recently crowned after eight years of striving for the title, is using her platform to address the pervasive issue of cyberbullying. The 23-year-old beauty queen is calling out cyberbullies and urging them to seek help, emphasizing the detrimental effects of their actions on both victims and themselves.
“Know that both victims and perpetrators have alternatives—there’s no need to resort to this behavior. Help is available, and mental health is a topic more now than ever,” Alabama Sara Milliken stated, highlighting the importance of seeking support and breaking the cycle of online harassment.
Acknowledging the prevalence of self-harming thoughts among perpetrators of cyberbullying, Milliken emphasized the need for awareness and intervention to address underlying mental health issues. Despite her own success and mental well-being, she recognizes that not everyone is fortunate enough to be in a similar state.
“I am blessed to report I am mentally at a great place and I am not experiencing these thoughts. However, this isn’t the case for everyone,” Milliken expressed, emphasizing the importance of empathy and understanding towards those struggling with mental health challenges.
In her advocacy against cyberbullying, Milliken advocates for a simple yet powerful solution: spreading kindness. Drawing on the wisdom passed down from generations, she emphasizes the timeless adage, “If you can’t say something nice, don’t say nothing at all.”
As Miss Alabama, Sara Milliken’s words carry weight, serving as a reminder of the impact of our actions and the importance of fostering a culture of kindness and support both online and offline.
