Today, PM Modi addresses the first batch of Agniveers of the three Services, who have commenced their basic training, via video conferencing.

PM congratulates the Agniveers on being the pioneers of this path-breaking Agnipath Scheme. This transformative policy will be a game changer in strengthening our Armed Forces and making them future-ready for the challenges that lie ahead, he highlighted. The young Agniveers will make the Armed Forces more youthful and tech-savvy, affirmed the Prime Minister.

Aatmanirbhar Bharat is our goal and we are making all efforts to make our armed forces strong and modern,” said the Prime Minister. He said that wars in the 21st century are fought differently than in the past.

He said that technologically-advanced soldiers will play a key role in our armed forces, discussing the new fronts of contactless warfare and challenges of cyber warfare. He added that the current generation of youth especially has this potential, and so the Agniveers will play a leading role in our armed forces in the times to come.

PM spoke about how the scheme will empower women even further. He was happy to see how women Agniveers are adding pride to the Naval forces and looked forward to seeing women Agniveers in all three forces. The Prime Minister also recalled how women are leading armed forces on various fronts, citing examples of a woman soldier posted in Siachen and women driving modern fighter planes.

PM said that being posted in different regions will give them an opportunity to get diverse experiences and that they should try to learn different languages and also about different cultures and ways of living. “He said that teamwork and leadership skills will add a new dimension to their personality.”

He urged Agniveers to be curious about learning new things while also working on improving their skills in the areas they are interested in.

Concluding his speech by hailing the potential of youth and Agniveers, the Prime Minister said that they are the ones who are going to provide leadership to the nation in the 21st century.
