Indian actress Mouni Roy, born on September 28, 1985, primarily works in Hindi films and television. Her acting debut was in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi (2006). Mouni Roy became one of the highest-paid Hindi television actresses after starring as a shape-shifting serpent in the supernatural thriller “Naagin” (2015–2016) and its sequel “Naagin 2” (2016–2017). She has received various awards including Indian Television Academy Awards and Gold Awards.
She gained wider attention for playing Sati in Devon “Ke Dev…Mahadev” (2011) after featuring in several other shows. Mouni Roy has participated in “Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa Season 7” (2014) and “Zara Nachke Dikha (2008)”. Her film debut was with “Hero Hitler in Love” (2011) and her Hindi film debut was with “Gold” (2018). Her performance as Junoon in Brahmāstra: Part One – Shiva was met with critical acclaim.
Early life:
Roy was born on September 28, 1985 into a Bengali Hindu family in Cooch Behar, West Bengal. Her grandfather, Shekhar Chandra Roy, was a well-known Jatra theatre artist. Mukti, her mother, was a theatre artist, and Anil Roy, her father, was an office superintendent of the Cooch Behar Zilla Parishad. Mouni Roy did her schooling till class 12th from Kendriya Vidyalaya in Baburhat, Cooch Behar and then went to Delhi.
