President Murmu Meets IDES, MES, CWES Probationers

President Droupadi Murmu called upon probationers from IDES, MES, and CWES to integrate technology, adopt green practices, and contribute actively to national goals of sustainability, self-reliance, and water security.

On July 23, 2025, probationers from the Indian Defence Estates Service (IDES), Military Engineer Services (MES), and Central Water Engineering Service (CWES) called on President Smt Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

In her address to the IDES officers, the President stressed the growing significance of technology in public administration. She emphasized that Artificial Intelligence, drone-based land surveys, satellite imagery, and blockchain for property record-keeping are no longer futuristic—they are today’s tools of effective governance. She urged officers to stay technologically updated and adopt eco-friendly practices in infrastructure development, including water conservation and renewable energy use in cantonments.

To the MES officers, the President emphasized their vital role as future leaders in military infrastructure development. She stressed the importance of building responsibly to minimize the carbon footprint. She also appreciated MES’s efforts in advancing the ‘Make in India’ initiative by using indigenous materials and technologies, in line with the vision of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’.

Addressing the CWES officers, the President focused on the pressing need for sustainable water management. In light of climate change, she said water conservation and clean water supply are essential for national resilience. She lauded their efforts in building robust water infrastructure and providing engineering solutions that will support agricultural productivity and public health.

President Murmu’s address served as a powerful reminder of the evolving responsibilities of civil and military engineers in shaping a future that is both technologically advanced and environmentally conscious.
