On the 1st of March Indian Union Minister Nitin Gadkari recently announced that five new greenfield access control expressways are under construction in Gujarat, with an estimated cost of Rs 55,000 crore. These expressways are expected to improve transportation efficiency, reduce travel time, save fuel, and boost trade in the region.
The new expressways will be equipped with advanced features such as automatic traffic management systems, intelligent transportation systems, and state-of-the-art tolling facilities. They will also have provisions for electric vehicle charging stations, making them environmentally sustainable.
According to Gadkari, the new expressways will connect major cities in Gujarat, including Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Vadodara, Surat, and Bhavnagar, and will help reduce the travel time between these cities by up to 50%. The expressways will also connect to major ports in the region, such as Mundra and Hazira, which will facilitate the movement of goods and promote trade.
The project is expected to create numerous employment opportunities in the region, both during the construction phase and after completion. The improved transportation infrastructure is also expected to attract new businesses to the region, further boosting economic growth.
The announcement of these new expressways is part of the Indian government’s ongoing efforts to improve transportation infrastructure and promote sustainable development. The government has been investing heavily in infrastructure projects such as highways, ports, and airports in recent years, with the aim of modernizing the country’s transportation network and promoting economic growth.
