Estimated reading time: 2 minutes

In a significant move aimed at bolstering Karnataka’s infrastructure, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari, unveiled a series of ambitious projects today in Mysuru. The inauguration and foundation stone laying ceremony witnessed the commencement of 22 National Highway Projects, stretching over 268 kilometers and valued at a staggering ₹4,000 Crore.

Among the notable initiatives announced, the Huliyar-KB cross-Chunchanahalli-Nelligere road project stands out, poised to revolutionize connectivity between Mysuru and North Karnataka. This strategic endeavor is envisioned to facilitate smoother transit and bolster economic exchanges between the regions.

Addressing the burgeoning issue of urban congestion, the implementation of the Mysuru Ring Road, equipped with service roads and Railway Under Bridges (RUBs), emerges as a promising solution. By alleviating city traffic congestion, this initiative is set to ensure seamless movement of vehicles, enhancing overall efficiency and convenience for commuters.

Furthermore, the expansion of key road arteries such as Belur-Hassan and Yedegowdanahalli-Bilikere, alongside the installation of Railway Over Bridges (ROBs) at Hangarahalli and Holenarasipur Bypass, anticipates a substantial reduction in travel time. With a projected two-hour decrease in transit duration, these developments underscore the government’s commitment to enhancing transportation infrastructure and fostering regional development.

In line with the broader vision of sustainable urban planning, the construction of a major bridge over the Lakshmanathirtha River aims to ease congestion in Hunsur Town. This strategic intervention not only addresses immediate traffic concerns but also reflects a forward-thinking approach towards urban development and infrastructure management.

Moreover, the development of bypasses in Srinivasapura and Chintamani holds significant promise in tackling congestion hotspots within these urban centers. By diverting traffic away from congested areas, these bypasses are poised to enhance safety, reduce travel time, and stimulate economic activity in the respective regions.

A key highlight of these highway projects is the strategic inclusion of major and minor bridges, as well as ROBs on railway level crossings. This comprehensive approach underscores the government’s concerted efforts to facilitate unhindered traffic movement and ensure the seamless integration of road and rail networks.
