Union Minister Nitin Gadkari conveyed his heartfelt condolences on the passing of Meenakshiji Patil, a revered figure in Maharashtra’s political landscape. Patil, a senior leader of the Farmer Workers Party and former state minister, succumbed to illness at the age of 76. Gadkari paid tribute to Patil’s dedication to serving the common people and acknowledged his significant contributions to both journalism and politics.
Born into a political family, Meenakshiji Patil inherited her passion for politics from her father, Prabhakar Patil. She began her political journey early in life and also pursued a career in journalism before dedicating herself fully to public service. Her eloquence and scholarly speeches earned her respect and admiration among colleagues and constituents alike.
Meenakshiji Patil’s political career saw her elected thrice to the Legislative Assembly from the Alibaug Constituency. She served as Minister of State for Ports and Fisheries in Vilasrao Deshmukh’s cabinet, showcasing her commitment to public welfare and development.
“Renowned for her oratorical skills and diplomatic relations with leaders across party lines, Meenakshiji Patil was a respected figure in Maharashtra’s political circles. Her passing has left a void in the political, social, and educational sectors of Raigad district, where she was deeply revered”.
Meenakshiji Patil’s legacy lives on through her family, including her son Aswad Patil, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren. As the Raigad district mourns her loss, tributes pour in from political, social, and educational communities, honoring her enduring contributions to public service and her lasting impact on Maharashtra’s political landscape.
