NTPC Achieves Milestone: Surpasses 73,000 MW Installed Electricity Generation Capacity

NTPC, India’s leading integrated power producer, has achieved a significant milestone by surpassing an installed electricity generation capacity of 73,024 MW. This remarkable feat includes a capacity of 57,038 MW from power plants owned by NTPC and an additional 15,986 MW from plants owned by NTPC’s subsidiaries and joint ventures. The recent commissioning of the 660 MW Unit-2 of Stage-I (3 x 660 MW) at the Barh Super Thermal Power Project in Bihar has propelled the total capacity of the group past the 73,000 MW mark.

Diverse Portfolio and Expansion

NTPC’s installed electricity generation capacity consists of a diverse portfolio of power plants. The group manages a total of 50 NTPC stations, comprising 26 coal-based stations, 7 gas-based stations, 1 hydro station, and 16 renewable energy-based stations. Additionally, their joint ventures and subsidiaries contribute to 39 stations, comprising 9 coal-based, 4 gas-based, 8 hydro, and 18 renewable energy-based stations. This extensive portfolio demonstrates NTPC’s commitment to utilizing various energy sources and promoting sustainable power generation.

Future Goals and Clean Energy Commitment

With the milestone achievement of exceeding 73,000 MW installed capacity, NTPC continues to aim for further growth and sustainability.
