In a significant stride towards the betterment of the agricultural sector, the Government of India has introduced the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM-Kisan). This groundbreaking initiative aims to provide crucial financial assistance to farmers across the country, acknowledging their pivotal role in ensuring food security and sustaining the nation’s economy. Under this scheme, eligible farmers are entitled to receive annual financial support of ₹6,000, which is a commendable step towards uplifting the agricultural community.
Financial Support for Farmers:
The PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana seeks to alleviate the financial burden on farmers by offering them direct income support. This support comes in the form of ₹6,000 per year, which is distributed in three equal installments of ₹2,000 each. The financial assistance aims to enhance the purchasing power of farmers, enabling them to invest in better agricultural practices, acquire necessary resources, and improve overall productivity.
Eligibility Criteria:
To avail of the benefits of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, farmers must meet certain eligibility criteria. Small and marginal farmers with landholding of up to 2 hectares are eligible for the scheme. The objective is to target those farmers who often face financial constraints in adopting modern farming techniques and struggle to make ends meet. All eligible farmers must complete the necessary procedures and register on the official website of PM Kisan (http://pmkisan.gov.in) to ensure they receive financial assistance.

Subsequently, they need to provide essential details such as Aadhaar number, bank account details, and landholding information. Once the registration is complete and verified, farmers become eligible to receive annual financial assistance.
