Launched on June 1st, 2020, amid the global economic crisis triggered by the pandemic, the scheme has been instrumental in transforming the lives of street vendors across the country.

Under the PM SVANidhi scheme, over 82 lakh loans totaling more than ₹10,978 cr have been disbursed to more than 62 lakh street vendors nationwide. In Delhi alone, almost 200,000 loans totaling Rs. 232 crores have been distributed. In addition to addressing beneficiaries of the PM SVANidhi scheme, Prime Minister Modi will distribute loans to 1 lakh street vendors, with 5,000 vendors from Delhi benefiting from this initiative. This distribution of loans is poised to provide a crucial lifeline to street vendors, empowering them to expand their businesses and improve their livelihoods.

The corridors, namely Lajpat Nagar – Saket-G Block and Inderlok – Indraprastha, will collectively span over 20 kilometers, enhancing connectivity and alleviating traffic congestion in the national capital.

The Lajpat Nagar to Saket G-Block corridor will feature stations such as Lajpat Nagar, Andrews Ganj, Greater Kailash – 1, Chirag Delhi, Pushpa Bhawan, Saket District Centre, Pushp Vihar, and Saket G-Block. In the meantime, the corridor from Inderlok to Indraprastha will encompass stations such as Inderlok, Daya Basti, Sarai Rohilla, Ajmal Khan Park, Nabi Karim, New Delhi, LNJP Hospital, Delhi Gate, Delhi Sachivalaya, and Indraprastha.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s engagement underscores the government’s commitment to inclusive development, infrastructure expansion, and empowering marginalized communities for a prosperous and resilient India.
