On the 11th of February PM Modi, the Prime Minister gave a video message at the 60th National Conference of the Indian Association of Physiotherapists (IAP) in Ahmedabad.

The Prime Minister of India acknowledged the crucial role played by physiotherapists in providing comfort, hope, resilience, and recovery to patients. He praised the professionalism of the physiotherapist profession and stated that the same spirit of support is reflected in the governance of the country as well.

The Prime Minister highlighted the importance of characteristics such as consistency, continuity, and conviction, which are critical not only for physiotherapy but also for governance policies.

The Prime Minister announced the recognition of physiotherapists as a profession through the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professionals Bill and added them to the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission network, making it easier for physiotherapists to reach patients. He encouraged physiotherapists to educate people about the right posture, right habits, and right exercises and also drew attention to the benefits of combining yoga with physiotherapy.

The Prime Minister acknowledged that a big part of the physiotherapy profession involves working with senior citizens and emphasized the need for experience and soft skills in the profession. He also requested physiotherapists to develop ways of video consulting and telemedicine, which can be useful in situations like natural disasters where a large number of physiotherapists are needed.
