On the 5th of February, PM Modi Delivers Key Address To Jaipur Mahakhel Via Video Conference.
Indian Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, addressed the Jaipur Mahakhel via video conferencing on February 5, 2023. The Mahakhel is an annual sporting competition in Jaipur, organized by Lok Sabha MP, Shri Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, who is also an Olympic medalist.
In his address, the Prime Minister congratulated the players, coaches, and families of the winners and expressed his delight in seeing renowned athletes from India participating in the event to support young athletes. He also highlighted the importance of sports in shaping the mental and physical capabilities of the youth and credited Rajasthan for its passion for sports.
The Prime Minister underlined the government’s efforts in promoting sports and increasing the sports budget, which has gone up three times since 2014, with over 1,000 crores allocated to the ‘Khelo India’ campaign for the development of sports facilities and resources in the country.
He also pointed out that sports universities are being set up to create an environment for learning in sports management and sports technology and mentioned the National Sports University which received the highest budget allocation this year.
The Prime Minister stated that the government is ensuring that no young athlete is left behind due to a lack of resources, by supporting the best-performing players with up to Rs 5 lakh annually. He emphasized the need for the development of sports infrastructure at the district and local levels and pointed out that this was being done in many cities in Rajasthan.
The Prime Minister concluded by saying that sports are finally being viewed from the athlete’s perspective rather than a political one and expressed his confidence in the youth of India to achieve greatness.
