Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed heartfelt birthday wishes to Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, recognizing his remarkable efforts in two critical sectors of the nation’s development.
Hardeep Singh Puri, born on February 15, 1952, boasts a distinguished career as an Indian diplomat and politician. Currently serving as the Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas and Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs in the Government of India, Hardeep Singh Puri has been instrumental in driving initiatives aimed at enhancing urban infrastructure and bolstering India’s self-reliance in the petroleum sector.
PM Modi commended Hardeep Singh Puri’s exemplary work in both areas, acknowledging his dedication and leadership in implementing transformative policies. He emphasized Puri’s pivotal role in fostering inclusive urban development and ensuring energy security for the nation.
A seasoned diplomat, Hardeep Singh Puri served as the Permanent Representative of India to the United Nations from 2009 to 2013, garnering international recognition for his diplomatic acumen and strategic insights. Transitioning into politics, he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in January 2014 and has since played a significant role in shaping India’s policy landscape.
Puri’s illustrious career also includes chairing the United Nations Security Council’s Counter-Terrorism Committee from January 2011 to February 2013, further underscoring his commitment to global peace and security.
“Presently serving as the longest-serving Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs in history, Puri’s tenure has been marked by initiatives aimed at creating sustainable and inclusive urban spaces. His contributions extend beyond national borders, as evidenced by his senior advisory role at the International Peace Institute”.
