PM Modi Flags Off Assam’s 1st Vande Bharat Express, Inaugurates Infrastructure Projects in Northeast India.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked a significant day for connectivity and development in Northeast India by flagging off Assam’s first Vande Bharat Express, inaugurating electrified railway tracks, and a new DEMU/MEMU shed. Vande Bharat Express Inauguration and Connectivity:

The inauguration of Assam’s first Vande Bharat Express holds great importance for the region. The train’s route between Guwahati & New Jalpaiguri will strengthen the historical ties B\W Assam & West Bengal. The improved connectivity will facilitate easier travel, benefit students, and contribute to the growth of tourism and business in the area. The Vande Bharat Express also provides access to popular destinations like the Maa Kamakhya Temple, Kaziranga, Manas National Park, and Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary. The inauguration is anticipated to enhance travel and tourism in popular destinations such as Shillong and Cherrapunji in Meghalaya, as well as Tawang and Pasighat in Arunachal Pradesh.

Inauguration of Electrified Tracks and DEMU/MEMU Shed:

Prime Minister Modi also inaugurated 182 route kilometers of newly electrified railway tracks in Assam and Meghalaya. This initiative will enhance the efficiency and sustainability of rail transport in the region. Additionally, the new DEMU/MEMU shed at Lumding in Assam will contribute to the maintenance and operation of diesel and electric multiple-unit trains, further improving rail connectivity.
