Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the historic 2550th Bhagwan Mahaveer Nirvan Mahotsav on the auspicious occasion of Mahaveer Jayanti, scheduled for April 21st, 2024, at 10 AM at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The event holds immense significance as it marks the birth anniversary of Bhagwan Mahavir, the 24th Tirthankar, revered for illuminating the path of peaceful co-existence and universal brotherhood through Jain principles.
Bhagwan Mahavir’s teachings, centered on principles such as Ahimsa (Non-Violence), Satya (Truthfulness), Asteya (Non-Stealing), Brahmacharya (Chastity), and Aparigraha (Non-attachment), continue to inspire millions worldwide.
Jains commemorate five major events of every Tirthankar, including Mahavir Swami Ji, known as Kalyanak. April 21st, 2024, marks the Janma Kalyanak of Bhagwan Mahavir Swami, and the Government is commemorating this auspicious occasion by organizing a cultural program at Bharat Mandapam. The event will feature the presence of Saints from the Jain community, who will bless the congregation and participate in the festivities.
In addition to inaugurating the Mahotsav, Prime Minister Modi will release a commemorative stamp and coin, symbolizing the reverence and respect accorded to Bhagwan Mahavir and his teachings. The event promises to be a momentous occasion, celebrating the timeless wisdom and legacy of Mahavir Swami Ji, while fostering unity and harmony among all communities.
Prime Minister Modi’s address at the event is expected to inspire the nation to uphold the values of peace, truth, and non-violence espoused by Bhagwan Mahavir, paving the way for a more enlightened and compassionate society.
The Bhagwan Mahaveer Nirvan Mahotsav serves as a testament to the enduring legacy of Bhagwan Mahavir and the profound impact of his teachings on humanity. It stands as a reminder of the timeless principles of Jainism, which continue to guide and inspire people across the globe towards a path of righteousness and enlightenment.
