In a monumental leap towards regional development, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for a slew of transformative projects valued at over Rs 17,300 crores in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu. The cornerstone of the unveiling ceremony was the Outer Harbor Container Terminal at V.O.Chidambaranar Port, symbolizing India’s commitment to enhancing maritime infrastructure and bolstering trade connectivity. Prime Minister Modi highlighted the project’s strategic importance, citing its potential to elevate the Chidambaranar Port into a major shipping hub, thus catalyzing economic growth and employment opportunities in Tamil Nadu.

Moreover, the launch of India’s first indigenous green hydrogen fuel cell inland waterway vessel under the Harit Nauka initiative underscored the nation’s strides toward sustainable transportation solutions. Prime Minister Modi hailed the vessel as a testament to Tamil Nadu’s innovation and commitment to environmental stewardship, positioning the state as a pioneer in the adoption of green technologies.

The dedication of tourist facilities in 75 lighthouses across 10 States/UTs epitomized the convergence of heritage preservation and tourism promotion. Prime Minister Modi envisioned these lighthouses evolving into vibrant tourist destinations, enriching the cultural fabric of the region and stimulating economic growth.

Additionally, the inauguration of rail projects aimed at doubling the Vanchi Maniyachchi – Nagercoil rail line and modernizing roadways in Tamil Nadu signaled the government’s commitment to enhancing connectivity and facilitating seamless transportation networks.
